P. Rodgers 6-9 (!!!)

LEINSTER 159-3 (37 overs)

J. Threadgold 1-10
D. Singh 1-23

A poor start had us at 41-6 and heading for an early finish. The opening Leinster bowling was very good but we weren't going down without a fight and we made a real game of it. Some quick hitting from Matt Ruddock followed by a fighting stand of 70 between Shane Hogan (welcome back!) and Sunil Mathew helped us to a respectable total in the circumstances. Sunil Mathew was the star with an excellent innings of 65 not out including some terrific glances off the quick bowlers.

In reply we had Leinster at 31-3 and were well in the game. An early drinks break taken at 49-3 off 20 overs while a Leinster batsman suffered from cramp was the turning point in the game. Having survived a couple of very close LBW shouts, Kumar and Chhabra settled in and batted really well to take Leinster to victory with 8 overs to spare.

Recovering well from a such a start gives plenty of hope for the rest of the season. If you're interested, here's the full scorecard .
